Forensic reports have confirmed that some of the bones recovered from Mehrauli forest in Delhi last month belong to Shraddha Walkar, who was allegedly killed by her live-in partner Aaftab Poonawaala in May this year, Delhi Police officials said on Thursday. Some of the bones match Walkar’s father’s DNA, the officials added.
The Delhi Police had received forensic reports from the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) and the Forensic Science Laboratory, Rohini on Wednesday. The CFSL reports were on the bones collected by the police from the Mehrauli jungle and nearby areas.
Police sources on Thursday said few of the bones recovered from the forest belong to Walkar. “These are bones from limbs and other body parts. They have marks on them which show assault from a sharp weapon. The bones matched Walkar’s father’s DNA. It means they belong to the woman. These were recovered on the instance of Poonawaala. This is critical evidence in the case,” said an officer who refused to be named.
“We have received DNA reports from CFSL, Lodhi Road. The report is helpful for us. We have also got polygraph test report from FSL, Rohini. The matter is being investigated,” Sagar Preet Hooda, Special Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) said.
