New Delhi: The Indian Air Force (IAF) will phase out its last MiG-21 fighter jets on September 26, bringing an end to a long and illustrious journey of 62 years. The MiG-21 was India's first supersonic fighter jet, inducted into the air force in 1963. These aircraft will now be replaced by the indigenously built Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Mk-1A. The MiG-21s have had a glorious history but have also been involved in several accidents in recent years.
