In Neemuch, Madhya Pradesh, chaos ensued when approximately 26 young children fell ill due to the administration of incorrect injections. The incident occurred at the district hospital's pediatric ward, and as soon as the authorities were informed, the police and administration were on high alert. The children reportedly developed blisters immediately after receiving the injections.
The event took place in the district hospital's pediatric ward, where around 26 children had been admitted. On Friday, these children were administered injections, and shortly after, the condition of about 16 children worsened. Out of these, six children were admitted to the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU), while the parents of three other children took them to a private hospital. The remaining children are reported to be in stable condition.
The children affected were between the ages of 2 and 4 years. The reaction is believed to have been caused by the administration of an antibiotic injection (R Ceftriaxone Injection I.P.). Upon realizing the children’s condition was deteriorating, a crowd of anxious parents gathered at the hospital. Along with the parents, government and administrative officials were also informed about the situation.
Following the incident, the Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Lakshmi Gamad and Police Station In-charge (TI) Pushpa Rathore arrived at the hospital. They assessed the children’s condition and consulted with the doctors to understand the situation further. An investigation into the matter has been initiated, and necessary actions are being taken by the authorities.
